How to Install .APK File

Installing the .apk file is a simple process, but if you are a beginner and trying it for the first time, then you will have some difficulty. Here we provide a method which is useful for everyone.

Before installation, we want to tell you some important things related to the installation.

Security Notice

If you install any apk file from the Google Play Store, then you do not need to allow unknown sources on your device.

But when you try to download any apk file from outside Playstore (which is called third-party), then to install it, you need to allow unknown sources on your device. This is an indicator that you want to install apps from somewhere other than Playstore. Since installing anything from outside Playstore can be harmful, this setting is given in Android devices.

Allowing unknown sources is the main step, after which you can easily install any comprehensive file downloaded from anywhere.

Step-by-Step Process of Installation of APK File

 

Step 1. Download the APK File

Download from APKDirectory or any other trusted source (for security reasons)

 

Step 2. Allow Unknown Sources

You can do this before downloading the APK file (you only have to do it once)

  • Go to Settings → Security/Privacy → Install unknown apps (or Unknown Sources)
 

Step 3. Install the APK

Go to the Download section and tap the downloaded APK file, then tap Install

(If you don't see the APK file in Downloads, use File Manager to find it)

How to Install XAPK File

What is an XAPK file?

An XAPK file is like a box that contains the APK (app file) + additional data (such as an OBB file, game graphics, or additional files). Normal APK installers can't open it, so you need a special tool.

Step-by-Step Process to install .XAPK File

Method 1: Using an XAPK Installer App (Best for Beginners)

  • Download the XAPK installer (try "APK Installer" or "XAPK Installer" from the Play Store)
  • Open the installer and find your downloaded .xapk file (usually in Downloads)
  • Tap Install → Wait → Done!

Method 2: Manual Install

  1. Rename the file from .xapk to .zip (example: game.xapk → game.zip)
  2. Extract the ZIP (use ZArchiver or Files by Google)
  3. Inside, you'll find an APK + a folder (e.g. "com.game.name")
  4. Install the APK first (tap it → Install)
  5. Move the extra folder to:
    • Android/obb/ (for games)
    • or Android/data/ (for apps)
    • Open the app!

Important note:

  • Allow "Unknown sources" (Settings → Security → enable it for your installer)
  • Download XAPK files only from trusted sites (e.g. APKDirectory)
